Its design was made by Paweł Konopczyński. Triform is a piece of furniture that allows you to change its appearance so that it can be adapted to new functions. It is made up of a set of elements giving many options for changing and creating new solutions.
The project Triform – a piece of furniture to be assembled is a project prepared by Paweł Konopczyński during his studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Poznan University of Technology. The project was developed as part of a course in innovation studies taught by Dr. hab. inż. arch. Magdalena Gyurkovich.
Triform is a set of elements that allows you to create modular furniture according to your own design. The main objective of the project is to provide users with maximum freedom in interior design thanks to flexible and easy-to-assemble components. It is a response to functional, multi-purpose solutions in residential and commercial spaces.
Exploring the concept
The student’s task was to create an innovative solution. He began his search for a concept by analysing everyday objects. The first idea was a portable ball light with a built-in energy source. The focus then shifted to the problem of hanging objects, resulting in the development of a multifunctional holder. After a number of trials, a completely different solution was decided upon – the final solution was to develop a set of elements to create a custom piece of furniture. The aim in developing the design was to reduce the components so that it consisted of as few as possible.
Construction and materials
The Triform kit that was developed consists of two plywood pieces of different sizes, which are connected by corner joints of the puzzle type. These elements are made of durable recycled plastic, which is resistant to deformation.
As a result, the design features durability and an environmentally friendly approach to design. Each plywood piece has two precisely milled edges, which work perfectly with the corner joints to guarantee the stability of the structure. In addition, on the sides that are not milled, holes have been provided for the installation of pins and inserts, which allows for spatial construction of the composition, explains Paweł Konopczyński.
Modularity and expandability
The basic module is a right-angled triangle. By adding new elements, it can be expanded. Users are limited only by their imagination. They can successfully create original, three-dimensional furniture compositions. Shelves, bookcases, tables and seats can be created from this system. Each element can be customised, making the project extremely versatile and practical.
Ecological approach and mobility
One of the greatest strengths of the Triform design is its mobility and multiple configurability. The lightness of the structure means that the furniture can be easily rearranged and adapted to the changing needs of users. In addition, the use of puzzle-type connections made from recycled plastic supports environmental concerns.
