Under the arcades. Intimate osteopathy practice in Poznań

It is located in a new building designed by the INSOMIA studio. The osteopathy practice in Poznań is 60 sq m in size and its interior was designed by Michal Szuba of MSDL Michal Szuba Design LAB.

The practice is located in a residential and commercial building at 7 Słowackiego St. It is a space that harmoniously combines aesthetics with functionality. Right next door is the iconic Mercure hotel and the famous Baltic of MVRDV’s design. The architect’s task was to create a space that provides patients with comfort and a sense of relaxation.

In designing the space, the architect was inspired by Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian practicality. The colour scheme of the office is based on muted colours. Beiges were juxtaposed with warm shades of grey and white. In addition, the interior refers to the brick façade of the building, so that the interior is consistent with the aesthetics of the block. The osteopathy office is visually warmed by wood. The furniture was made from this material. In addition, the wall panelling is made of wood-based panels.

In total, the practice consists of five rooms: the entrance area (waiting room), two surgeries, a toilet and a social room.

One of the design challenges was the functional layout of these various zones in a relatively small area of 60 square metres. An additional difficulty was the glass façade of the building, whose architectural divisions required adaptation to the structural requirements. As a result, it was possible to retain the large glazed areas in the offices, which provide abundant light. In order to maintain the intimacy and comfort of the space, it was decided to use bamboo blinds, which further warm the space and bring cosiness to the interior, explains the project’s designer.

In the design, it was important to use not only aesthetically attractive finishing materials, but also very durable ones. In the areas most prone to damage, such as the area around the chairs or the communication areas, wood-like panels, 3D stoneware cladding and micro-cement were used. Such solutions allow the interior to be more easily maintained over a long period of time, while also fitting in with the minimalist aesthetic of the space.

A key element of the design is the lighting. Adjustable luminaires were used in the room to direct light onto the walls without directly illuminating the person lying on the rehabilitation table. The luminaires were installed in such a way that they are not visible, allowing for a clean, minimalist look to the ceiling.

In the interior, oak chairs and a desk by TAMO have been set up, which fits in with the minimalist aesthetic thanks to its simplicity. In addition, there are LOFT DECORA hangers, which have both a practical and decorative function.

The design of the osteopathy office in the centre of Poznań is a combination of modernity, minimalism and functionality. Thanks to a careful selection of materials, optimal space planning and the use of innovative solutions, it was possible to create an interior that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but above all comfortable and practical. The office, inspired by both contemporary architecture and minimalist design, provides patients with a sense of calm and relaxation, while meeting all the requirements of a professional osteopath, concludes the architect.
