VIP airport in Prague. This is what the terminal looks like

Airports are a country’s business card – first impressions that build a country’s image on a global scale. Terminal 3 in Prague, dedicated mainly to VIPs and private aircraft, has undergone extensive modernisation, which has not only emphasised its representative character, but also increased its functionality and user comfort. The design of the changes was prepared by architects from ra15 studio.

The main objective of the revitalisation was to preserve the historical spirit of the terminal while giving it a modern, representative appearance. The exterior façade, an example of postmodern heritage, has been carefully preserved. Original elements, such as the canopy, were renovated or replaced to integrate with new, innovative forms. This gave the terminal a unique identity, combining the past with the future, introducing an unexpected combination of tradition and avant-garde design.

Innovative solutions

One of the most distinctive elements of the modernisation is the impressive external canopy made of steel – a structure resembling a network made of equilateral triangles, set on seven columns. This innovative structure has become the visual focal point of the building, which is immediately striking to travellers, regardless of the time of day. The geometric shapes of the canopy are also reflected in the design of the new stairs and ramps, finished in brushed metal to create an elegant yet modern accent.

Functionality and ergonomics at the forefront

The modernisation of Terminal 3 is not only about visual changes, but above all about intensive work to improve passenger flow. New entrances – dedicated to VIPs, tourist groups, arriving and departing travellers – allow for efficient traffic management, increasing security and comfort. The interior of the terminal has been rethought in terms of ergonomics; the new entrance hall and check-in areas have been designed in an intuitive way, allowing easy movement through the terminal without unnecessary barriers. Visitors can also enjoy relaxation areas and quiet workstations.

Harmonious combination

The designers opted for elegance and simplicity and wanted to achieve an effect of timeless aesthetics. The use of materials such as brushed metal, glass and unique decorative elements in the VIP area give the interiors a distinctive character. Natural materials dominate the public spaces – ceramics on both floors and facades, as well as green walls and individual plants in pots that bring an element of nature into the interior. A separate hall, decorated with a Czech lion motif, provides an elegant backdrop for official visits, emphasising prestige and functionality.

The result of the complete revitalisation of Terminal 3 is a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing space that meets the requirements of modern private aviation. The project, carried out by studio ra15, combines the historical atmosphere of the building with modern architectural trends. Thanks to the use of innovative architectural solutions, modern technologies and high-quality materials, the terminal has become a symbol of elegance, comfort and safety, the ideal start or end of a journey.
