This 72-square-metre flat in Wrocław is a prime example of an interior that has a calming effect. Ewelina Andrakowicz’s design is based on carefully considered material choices, simplicity and consistency, transforming the space into a haven of tranquillity after a busy day.
The starting point was the owner’s clearly defined expectations. He wanted a bright, visually light and orderly interior, dominated by warm shades of white, cream and beige. Natural materials, especially wood, were to give the whole a timeless character and create a welcoming atmosphere. Functionality was equally important, which is why the design included a large number of discreet storage spaces and built-in units to help maintain order without the space feeling cluttered.
The entire space was designed around the repetition of materials and simplicity of form. Light-coloured walls provide a neutral backdrop for the wooden built-in units and furniture, ensuring the flat remains cohesive and warm despite its minimalist character. Here, wood serves not only an aesthetic purpose; it shapes the atmosphere of the home, introduces a natural texture and creates a welcoming feel to the interior.
Great importance was attached to the organisation of storage. The built-in units were planned to make the most of the available space, whilst remaining almost invisible. It is thanks to them that the flat retains its lightness and order. Every element has its purpose, and the absence of random objects in view reinforces the sense of harmony.
The living area has been conceived as a space for relaxation. Natural light filtered through wooden blinds, soft fabrics and a limited number of furnishings give the interior a calming effect. The designer has ensured that every detail supports the idea of warm minimalism.
The bathroom presented one of the greatest functional challenges. The owner wanted to combine a comfortable bath with a full-size shower, without compromising on space. Precise planning of the layout and consistent use of materials proved crucial. Light, stone surfaces make the room appear larger, whilst the muted colour scheme lends it an air of elegance. Natural shades of beige and warm grey harmonise with the wooden accents found throughout the flat, creating a cohesive whole.
The storage unit beneath the washbasin provides convenient storage, keeping everyday items out of sight. The lighting has been designed in layers to ensure the bathroom is functional for everyday use, whilst also allowing it to take on a more atmospheric character during evening relaxation. The soft light reflecting off the light-coloured surfaces highlights the texture of the materials and adds warmth to the space.
The design was created in close collaboration with the owner. His commitment, aesthetic awareness and openness to dialogue made it possible to create an interior tailored to his lifestyle, rather than one dictated by passing trends. Our joint search for a balance between minimalism, functionality and warmth has resulted in a space that is authentic, orderly and timeless.
