This is a new project by the Zmrok studio. The cosy flat is located in Perfumiarnia in Poznań. The location, surrounded by historic townhouses and a nearby park, influenced the interior design. The result is a modern space in which it is easy to achieve a state of zen.
Perfumiarnia is a new residential complex located in the heart of Poznan’s Lazarus district. The district, whose history dates back to the 16th century, is today built up with Art Nouveau townhouses. The building is located in the vicinity of Wilson Park. Such surroundings were the inspiration for the interior design, which combines traditional materials and high-quality craftsmanship.
When designing the interior, the Zmrok team knew that they were creating a space for living. The flat had to not only look good, but be fully functional. A key element shaping the arrangement was the investors’ connection to Mediterranean culture and nature – a celebration of light, communal meals and relaxation.
The flat was created by combining two smaller units, which was used to divide the space into a living and a sleeping area. They are connected by a meandering corridor lined with oak cladding created from a single trunk. The grain pattern of the oak flows seamlessly through the walls, room-height doors and wardrobe fronts, creating an unusual composition. The counterpoint to this is an alcove lined with Calacatta marble, accented with a lamp of Spanish origin.
The living area consists of the dining room adjacent to the kitchen and the living room. The huge windows offer a view of the treetops, and excess sunlight can be obscured by curtains of stone-crushed linen. Daily life revolves around the spacious kitchen island, ideal for cooking together as well as socialising in the evening. Thanks to the oak recesses, the kitchen has been given a regular shape and additional storage space. The dining area, on the other hand, is made up of a large oak table and a Ligne Roset carpet with an abstract pattern.
The designers created a relaxation zone with iconic sofas, a bookcase and space for family mementos. Despite the small space, it is an inviting zone for conversations, watching films or playing games.
The second part of the flat is the night zone. Thanks to its considerable space, it has been possible to create a bathing room with a view of Wilson Park. While bathing, you can therefore observe the life of the green park. The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a glass wall in a brass frame. A sense of privacy is provided here by a linen curtain. As in the entire flat, a narrow palette of materials was used in the bathroom, such as stone and oak. The designers opted for a warm colour scheme reminiscent of Mediterranean villas.
