When Jill moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles, she was looking for a new beginning and a place that would allow her to fully enjoy the wonderful climate of California. After years in the cooler state, she wanted to live in a home centrally located, with access to restaurants and cafes, in a space full of light, freedom and cosiness. She was helped by designer Lauren Waters, who created the West Hollywood Residence – an interior tailored to the owner’s needs – and struck up a friendship with her. The two bonded over their shared experiences as women running their own businesses and similar approaches to life.
Warmth and softness in the West Hollywood Residence
The basis of the interior concept was the desire to warm up a modern development house. Lauren Waters therefore opted for subtle colours, tactile materials and soft, feminine lines in the furniture. The interior was to be given a totally individual expression, moving away from the typical aesthetic of modern homes with a strict, masculine character. This is exactly the effect that was achieved by combining soft beiges, creams and natural fabrics, which create a peaceful backdrop for Jill’s everyday life.

Furniture and art with character
Many of the furnishings were designed specifically for this home. The Lauren Waters Design team created the dining chairs, corner sofa, bed frames in the bedrooms, console in the entrance area and carpets, among others. The interior is complemented by artworks by Ed Ruscha, David Hockney and Josef Albers, bringing colour and artistic rhythm to the tranquil spaces. Furniture and accessories from recognised brands have also been selected, including a Ruemmeler bookcase, Ralph Pucci coffee table, Mehreban carpets, Ochre lighting, Poliform table and desk and Thomas Hayes hockers.
The garden as an extension of the West Hollywood Residence
The designer opted to take advantage of the qualities of the Californian weather. The terraces and garden were furnished with comfortable lounge furniture and elements that allow these areas to be used all year round. In addition, the house has been fitted with outdoor heaters and light garlands, which create a fairytale atmosphere in the evening. Thanks to Lauren Waters, the West Hollywood Residence has become a home full of light, warmth and individuality. The project has transformed a developer’s space without a soul into a place perfectly tailored to the needs of a mature business woman.
