Although the furniture market in Poland has faced a slowdown in recent years, the custom-made kitchen segment – especially in the higher standard segment – is growing steadily. Customers are increasingly opting for solutions tailored to their needs and designed to last for years. At the same time, the cost of kitchens continues to raise emotions and questions. Where do the differences in pricing come from and why do similar-looking projects vary in price?
The design as the basis for the entire price
The final cost of a kitchen is most influenced by the design stage, which is often underestimated. Design is not only about the arrangement of cabinets or the choice of colours, but above all the analysis of functions, ergonomics and the daily habits of the household members. It is at this stage that it is determined how the kitchen will work every day – whether it will be comfortable, logical and adapted to the actual way it will be used. ” Kitchen design is a functional decision for many years to come. The better thought-out the layout and functions, the lower the risk of costly compromises in the future,”says Sebastian Zapora, Managing Director at Halupczok. The more individual the design, the greater the amount of design and technical work involved, which is reflected in the price, but at the same time allows you to avoid random solutions.
Personalisation and scale of adaptation to the interior
Nowadays, kitchens are rarely created in a perfectly “catalogue” space. High ceilings, sloping ceilings, recesses, open living areas and kitchen islands require individual construction and design solutions. Each custom-made element increases the complexity of the production and assembly process. In practice, this means more technical work, more measurements and greater responsibility on the part of the contractor. This is one of the reasons why two kitchens of similar size can differ in price even if they have a similar aesthetic.

It is the construction that determines whether the cabinets will retain their geometry and the mechanisms will work smoothly for a long time.

The materials used in kitchens may look similar, but at the same time differ significantly in their technical parameters. Resistance to moisture, temperature, scratches and UV radiation is crucial in a room that is used intensively.

The differences between laminate, sintered stone, natural stone and composite materials result from their durability, processing methods and resistance to everyday use. In practice, it is often the choice of worktop that accounts for the largest part of the difference between two kitchen offers with a similar layout and size.

Hinges, guides and pull-out systems are elements that are used every day. Their quality has a direct impact on the comfort of use, noise level and durability of the entire kitchen. Cheaper solutions may reduce the initial cost, but they wear out faster and require adjustment or replacement.“The mechanisms are where you can see the difference between a budget kitchen and a kitchen designed to last for years,” notes expert Halupczok.

Even the best-designed kitchen will not fulfil its role without proper installation. The precision of workmanship, the experience of the installation team and responsibility for the entire project have a direct impact on the durability and aesthetics of the installation. Professional installation reduces the risk of corrections and allows for design consistency, which translates into real savings in the long run.
Price as a result of informed decisions
A premium kitchen does not have to mean overpaying. In many cases, a higher price is the result of conscious choices regarding design, materials and technology. Customers are increasingly approaching kitchens as a long-term investment, analysing not only the initial cost, but also durability and comfort of use.
