Its interior was designed by Natalia Klim-Matuszewska, who runs the design studio nklim.design. The flat is located in a block of flats from the 1970s and has an area of 50 square metres. A recent renovation gave the space a completely new look.
The premises are located in the heart of Wrocław. The investors, who moved from a smaller flat, wanted every room to have a clearly defined function. Their love of good design and mid-century style was the inspiration for the entire project. They dreamed of an interior that would not only meet their aesthetic expectations, but also fit harmoniously into the character of the building itself.
During the renovation, the original interior layout was left in place, consisting of three independent rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. The largest room was designated as the living room. Here, a sofa in an intense red colour, a wooden table and a full-wall, vintage-inspired built-in unit were placed.
Block flat with a hint of vintage
A separate office space was particularly important for the investors, as they work remotely. Matthew, as a programmer, and Deborah, who writes technical documentation, needed a comfortable work space. The narrow room was designed so that, in addition to two workstations with computers, there was space for books and documents, and a small laundry room was hidden in a high built-in area, as well as a litter tray for their black cat, explains Natalia Klim-Matuszewska.
A corridor leads to the bedroom, which connects all the rooms. In the separate entrance area, the floor is tiled with geometric tiles from the Italian manufacturer’s Bauhaus collection. This is an accent that gives the interior an energetic feel. The bedroom itself, although small in size, houses built-ins in a deep blue-green shade. Illuminated rattan fronts conceal two wardrobes, for each member of the household. The upholstered bed hides behind its headboard a narrow shelf on which to put a book or switch on a lamp.
Small and functional space
Colourful calm prevails in the kitchen. The cabinetry in this area was made to measure from two materials, white matt and walnut veneer. It was possible to accommodate all the necessary appliances here.
The realisation is proof that a flat in an old block of flats can successfully serve for decades to come and offer an attractive living space.

From an early age, her attention was drawn to sophisticated interior design elements, which inspired her to creative explorations, such as changing the colour of furniture and its use. She enjoys being in unique interiors that inspire her to create new ideas. She appreciates classic Parisian interiors, the designs of the French architect Philippe Starck, and the Italian architect and designer Alessandro Mendini, whom she had the opportunity to meet personally in his studio in Milan.
