Its design was prepared by architects from the OODA studio. The concrete villa is located in Oeiras, Portugal. The building is 350sq m and has a huge terrace with a swimming pool at its heart.
In designing the building, the architects took full advantage of the plot’s potential. Initially, the unevenness of the terrain posed a problem, but the thoughtful design helped to turn these constraints into an asset. The villa was almost blended into the slope, creating an attractive relaxation zone in the central part of the site.
The concrete villa has a simple form. It is a single-storey building with a slightly sloping roof. The house consists of three parts that wrap around the patio. The functional layout is very clear. The central section houses the living area with a spacious living room. In one wing, a kitchen with dining area has been built, and in the other wing a private area with a bedroom.
Modernist inspiration can be seen here in the geometry, concrete elements and large glazing. While inside, one can admire the greenery in the distance. The plants are in the immediate vicinity, and those growing on the terrace blend seamlessly with the trees and shrubs already growing outside the building’s perimeter.
A visually warming element of the block is the dark-toned wooden panels. Wood also permeates the interior in the form of furnishings, furniture and accessories. The architects have succeeded in giving the interior an elegant feel, and the house itself is reminiscent of the modernist pavilions built in the first half of the 20th century.
