For decades, Wrocław’s Hotel Wieniawa has been associated mainly with the atmosphere of communist Poland, and its golden days are long behind it. The nine-storey building at 130 Gajowicka Street has just undergone a total refurbishment and no longer resembles an outdated relic of the past. Thanks to the renovation, it has gained a second life as the Four Points by Sheraton – a modern hotel belonging to the prestigious Marriott chain.
Wieniawa Hotel – renovation with a new standard
Wieniawa Hotel was built in the 1970s for military officers stationed at Haller Avenue. Chemobudowa Kraków S.A., a company with many years of experience in such projects, was responsible for the recent redevelopment of the building. The design of the new look, however, is the work of the Emkaa Architekci studio. Modernisation began in January 2023 and lasted until April 2025, during which time advanced structural work was carried out, as well as a comprehensive turnkey interior fit-out.
Total modernisation of a relic of communist Poland
The scope of work carried out during the modernisation included the rebuilding and changing the character of the façade to a more contemporary one and replacing the roof. The work also included damp-proofing the foundations, new connections, lifts and a rebuilt car park. The building was adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and equipped with a modern management system – the Building Management System (BMS).

Design with the spirit of Polish Modernism
The hotel’s new interiors were designed with the aesthetics of Polish modernism in mind. The forms and materials characteristic of the 1960s and 1970s were re-read and interpreted in a contemporary style. This treatment made it possible to create a unique and exceptional space, where respect for the history of domestic design meets modern comfort and contemporary living standards.
The former Wieniawa Hotel reinvented
Undergoing a total metamorphosis, the hotel now offers 157 elegant rooms, a restaurant with the Best Brew concept promoting craft beers, communal spaces with a fireplace and relaxation area, and fully equipped conference rooms. The entire Four Points by Sheraton is maintained in an atmosphere and design full of references to the extremely rich modernist heritage of Wrocław.
