National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching. PZPN will build it for 400 million!

The National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching will be built in Otwock, near Warsaw. As announced by the authorities of the Polish Football Association, the investment will be gigantic, as the facility is to cost more than 400 million zlotys. Construction is scheduled to take place between 2024 and 2027. The investment will be financed with funds from the state budget, more specifically from the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, which has provided a grant of PLN 304 million for this purpose. The rationale for the construction is to be the fact that the Polish national team is one of the few in Europe that does not have its own training facility.

The project involves the creation of a multifunctional National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching, which is a strategic investment in the context of the further development of football in Poland at various levels, from youth national teams, through research and implementation of innovative methods and technologies, training of referees and coaches, to the organisation of international qualification tournaments (including futsal, beach football, e-sport and teqball). The planned investment will support the development of the sport, the education of coaches and referees, the improvement of players, and will also take into account the needs of people with disabilities, thus promoting football and physical activity

By handing over the cheque for the creation of a multi-purpose National Football Training, Research and Coaching Centre, we are launching a fundamental investment as part of a programme of investment of particular importance to sport. Today, as a country, we are at a stage of development that allows us to implement the most ambitious sports projects. We need Polish athletes, including representatives of the world’s most popular team game, to be able to hone their skills at world-class facilities within our country. As early as 2027, all national teams, coaches, referees will be able to train, train at the absolute top facility in the world,’ said Minister of Sport and Tourism Kamil Bortniczuk

National teams should have their own ‘home’. The creation of this centre will be a key investment for us. It will ensure an optimum level of development for female players, footballers and the discipline as a whole, allowing us to join the best European federations,’ said Cezary Kulesza, president of PZPN

The National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching will be built on 12 hectares of land in Otwock. There are to be eight pitches with grass surfaces, as well as a covered pitch (hall). In addition, there will be a specialist futsal hall, two beach football pitches (one of which is covered), a medical centre and an equipment warehouse. In addition, there will be a modern administration and education building with an underground garage, a hotel and a dormitory for players for training at the Sports Championship School

The creation of a national centre is a necessary condition to be able to realistically think about competing for the most prestigious trophies in football on a regular basis. Last season, three of our national teams advanced to the final tournaments of the European Youth Championships, something that had never been achieved before in a single year. Infrastructural development will certainly contribute to making such situations the norm rather than the exception,” said the president of the Polish Football Association

– A modern training centre, dedicated to all Polish national football teams, will permanently solve many organisational issues, while at the same time guaranteeing the standard necessary to improve individual and team skills. In such a – unique in Europe – place, the Polish national teams will have ideal conditions for training during training camps,” stressed Łukasz Wachowski, Secretary General of the Polish Football Association (PZPN)

In addition, the National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching will host UEFA and FIFA qualifying tournaments in the U-17 and U-19 age categories, national and macro-regional tournaments

The National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching will also conduct research into football development and coordinate the implementation of modern methods and solutions in the area of sports training. – The combination of training and research functions will certainly bring results not only for Polish football, but for the whole sport in our country. The creation of one of the most modern and best centres in Europe will give us the opportunity to make optimum use of the skills of professionals working with national teams,” added the PZPN general secretary

The construction of the National Centre for Football Training, Research and Coaching will begin in 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2027. The investment is worth more than 400 million zlotys, of which 304 million comes from a targeted grant from the Ministry of Sport and Tourism

How do you assess the idea? Will the PLN 400 million spent on a training complex help our national team?
