New visual information system for the National Library of Warsaw.

The new visual information system of the National Library in Warsaw was designed by designers from Studio Blisko, founded by Anna Nowokuńska-Maksymiuk. It is not just about aesthetically pleasing icons or appropriately selected fonts.The new Visual Information System of the National Library in Warsaw allowed for the application of solutions ensuring accessibility for the blind and visually impaired: tyflographic maps (i.e. spatial maps that can be read with fingers by people with sight problems) and braille markings were the responsibility of Studio Blisko founded by Anna Nowokuńska-Maksymiuk

Studio Blisko, founded by Anna Nowokuńska-Maksymiuk, was responsible for the Visual Information System, including solutions to ensure accessibility for the blind and visually impaired: tyflographic maps (i.e. spatial maps that can be read with fingers by people with sight problems) and braille markings

Studio Blisko’s scope of development included pylons with tiflographic maps, braille signage, directional information boards, information pylons, identification boards and semaphores, and preparation for production. They started their collaboration with KONIOR Studio on an existing conceptual design previously developed by SOKKA

It is also worth mentioning that the National Library modernisation project has been recognised and honoured with numerous awards

  1. SARP Award of the Year 2023 in the Interior Architecture category.
  2. The Property Design Awards 2023 Grand Prize in the Design category – interiors of public buildings.
  3. Architectural Award of the Mayor of the City of Warsaw
    – GRAND PRIX 2022,
    – Award in the New Life of Buildings category 2022,
    – Award for accessibility solutions
