A square in Bielany full of greenery! As part of the works, the concrete surface was removed

A concrete square in Bielany has been transformed into an attractive leisure area. As part of the works carried out by the Warsaw Greenery Management Board, the old surface was flattened and replaced with a variety of greenery. Residents can already use the benches and seats that have been set up here, and in the spring they will be able to admire the new flowering plantings – a total of around 1150 plants.

The work completed at the end of January this year was the final stage in the construction of the Integrator Square. The area at the junction of Kasprowicza Street and Zjednoczenia Avenue has become more accessible to residents. New places to relax appeared – seats on wooden terraces and Warsaw benches, and the terrace with stairs adjacent to the building housing the Bielański Integrator for Entrepreneurs was reduced and renovated. A new ramp for people with disabilities was also created.

As part of the investment, a total of almost 1,000 square metres of hardened surface was removed from the square. The retaining wall was replaced by a lawn and a hedge of glossy iris. The remaining space was planted with new bulbous plants, perennials, shrubs and three ‘Palladia’ lime trees. Four new flowerbeds have been created, with plantings including sodding hemlocks, garden mulleins, Canadian ferns or Virginia creepers, bulbous plants and woody shrubs – Lamarckian mullein. The square area will also become green in spring with ‘Flaming Flag’ tulips, giant narcissi and Siberian onions. Two pots with woody shrubs were placed in front of the entrance to the Stare Bielany underground station, and a bed of perennials and grasses was established on the existing lawn. New litter bins, lanterns and a fogger were also placed.

The square was realised by the Warsaw Greenery Management Board in cooperation with the Bielany District Office. The contractor for the works is BIOSFERA Tomasz Tomala.
