A Krakow flat with a touch of vintage. It has 60 square metres!

A Krakow flat with a hint of vintage is the latest project by architect Weronika Sypuła of the About The Form studio. The flat in Krakow’s Prądnik Biały was designed with a ‘Vintage vibe’. The owners, Paulina and Paweł, are lovers of Polish design, which is why you will find Hałas chairs and Lisek and 366 armchairs in their living room. Most of the renovations were done by Ms Dorota from Studio Decha. All under the motto “Don’t hate, renovate!”. The RTV cabinet and display cabinet are gems found on Olx. And the coloured glass in the kitchen, in turn, is Paulina’s grandmother’s treasures.

The entire space is 60 m2, but the investors – Paulina and Paweł – decided to furnish the bedroom and the office on their own. We worked together on the rest.

In the living area, the furniture layout proposed by the developer blocked free access to the exit door to the garden. Fortunately, we managed to work out a layout where communication runs freely. And on top of that, while relaxing on the sofa we not only have a view of the TV, but also of the wonderful vegetation outside the window. Here a big plus for the developer, because it is not often that you find such pleasant landscaping on new housing estates.

The corridor is relatively wide, so thanks to a small change in the wall we were able to fit a deep wardrobe for clothes and for the washing machine there. This gave the bathroom a little more breath, which allowed us to design a convenient wardrobe with space for a laundry basket.

The kitchen is wood, granite and gold accessories. This is complemented by a white plinth that adds lightness and a delicate mosaic on the apron that subtly accentuates the whole. This colour scheme was also used in the corridor and in the bathroom, so that this warm atmosphere is felt throughout the flat and the design flows smoothly from room to room. This smoothness is also emphasised by the curves on the furniture.

When designing, the choice of lamps is particularly important to me; I always spend a lot of time on it and make sure that it is consistent throughout the space. And once again, my efforts have been appreciated by the Investors, which is incredibly nice for me! These lamps that hang above the kitchen have apparently already impressed more than one guest!

There was no shortage of colour either. We had a dilemma between blue and olive. We decided on olive. The red upholstery on the armchair is a great contrast. And the maroon accessories introduced a bit of contrast and emphasised the autumn mood. I like to refer to this flat as a flat with a soul, because it perfectly reflects the uniqueness of the Owners.
