The plaque from Freedom Square in Poznań shines again. It commemorates the place where Wielkopolska insurgents swore their oaths!

The plaque from Wolności Square in Poznań was created in 1988. The authors of the project of the plaque commemorating the place of the oath of the Wielkopolska Insurgents of 26 January 1919 are Anna Krzymańska and Jolanta Drzewoska. The plaque underwent conservation work, which was co-financed by the Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance in Poznań.

Conservation work on the plaque commemorating the place where Wielkopolska insurgents swore an oath on 26 January 1919 has been completed. The object has now returned to Wolności Square. The restoration work was carried out on the basis of a programme developed by an art conservator. They included, among other things: dismantling the object, renovation of the cracked stone tiles – replacing the permanently damaged ones with new ones, as well as mounting and impregnating the surface. The work carried out has restored the plaque to a suitable aesthetic and will minimise the causes of its deterioration in the future

The plaque is located in the central part of the square, in front of the Arkadia building. It is made of slabs of granite. Brass letters have been sunk into it, and decorative reliefs depicting the insurgent cross have been placed on the corners. The authors of the 1988 design are Anna Krzymańska and Jolanta Drzewoska. The task was co-financed by the Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance in Poznań. As a result, the plaque from Plac Wolności in Poznań shines again and reminds us of the heroism and patriotism of the Greater Poland Uprising insurgents
