The tenement house at 7 Salwator Street in Gdańsk sparkles. This is the result of the revitalisation of Biskupia Górka

The tenement house at 7 Salwator Street in Biskupia Górka in downtown Gdańsk was the first building to undergo renovation among all the tenements in the area to be included in the revitalisation programme. It is an intimate building with two flats. The work took about 11 months

One flat is located on the ground floor and is approximately 38sq m in size. The other, 39 square metres, is located on the first floor. It has a mezzanine floor. Both have two rooms each and have been insulated on the inside. As a result, the bricks on the façade of the building have been preserved, in accordance with the conservation officer’s guidelines. The colour and form of the window and door carpentry was also agreed with the conservator, which was modelled on the historical one. The part that was preserved was conserved

The residential building at 7 Salwator Street was erected in the second half of the 19th century. It is located within the area entered in the register of historical monuments as the urban layout of the city of Gdańsk within the modern fortifications, and also within the boundaries recognised as a Monument of History by the President of the Republic of Poland

The scope of reconstruction included: replacement of structural elements (ceilings, roof trusses), replacement of installations, ventilation, and rearrangement of the interior walls of the residential units. Vertical and horizontal insulation was also carried out. Due to the poor technical condition of the structural elements of the load-bearing walls, and also because of the landslide nature of the whole of Biskupia Górka, the strengthening of the external walls was carried out by shotcreting, consisting of placing reinforcement made of steel bars, anchored to the wall, and pneumatically spraying a special concrete mixture onto the strengthened surface. Such a solution is quite atypical for volume construction and is used mainly in engineering structures such as bridges or wharves, which shows even more how much work and modern solutions were implemented during the entire investment, which is the revitalisation of Biskupia Górka. The cost of the investment amounted to PLN 1,840,000
