The interior design was created for a young couple, who initially imagined their flat completely differently. The flat is located in a new housing estate in Żyrardów and was furnished by Karina Roman, owner of the P/art design studio
Karolina and Sebastian live here. Karolina likes vintage colours and accessories, while Sebastian feels best in simple and modern forms. Instead of the dominant whites, blacks or shades of grey, however, intense colours rule in this flat. The main aim of the project was to create a place that is both cosy and simple. The idea was also to use natural materials and colours that would appeal to the couple living here. Therefore, the interior does not lack warm beige, wood, yellow, green and the colours terracotta and blue
The designer decided to make minor changes to the functional layout
By modifying the furniture layout in the living area proposed by the developer (which was the biggest challenge), the room gained more space and comfort. The living area is a combination of the kitchen and the living room, with a table and an island placed centrally, full of daylight,” describes the designer
In the kitchen, the focus was on a neutral colour combined with wood and a delicate wall unit with decorative gold handles. The main idea was to create a coherent space in which the kitchen would be the background of the living area. The kitchen was set apart with light-coloured floor tiles with an imitation of stone. The same tiles, for consistency, were used in the hallway. In the rest of the flat, a darker-coloured wooden parquet floor has been laid as a contrast
Different from the developer’s proposal is the position of the wall between the bathroom and the hallway. By moving it, it was possible to make room for a utility cupboard to accommodate a washer-dryer, chemicals, a mop and all the items we want to hide from view on a daily basis. This area was accentuated by the blue colour used to finish the furniture, walls and ceiling
The main element of the bedroom that posed unchanged became the wallpaper with its organic shape and strong colour. This was complemented by simple wall lamps, a pastel bed headboard and a delicate wardrobe,” adds Karina Roman
In the bathroom, on the other hand, the neutral base was enlivened by decorating the wall with colourful tiles and black faucets
