This is Apple’s latest device. Apple Vision Pro launch

Apple has announced the release date and price of the Apple Vision Pro. Although they resemble VR goggles they can definitely do more. The image they ‘display’ seems to float in the space we are in.

Set to be the Californian company’s most important product in 2024, Apple Vision Pro is a device that was first unveiled in June 2023 at WWDC. The goggles are supposed to offer a new quality of multimedia experience, radically different from working with a computer. Today, the company announced the price and release date of the device.

Apple Vision Pro will only be available in the US for the time being. Orders will be available from 19 January and the glasses will reach customers on 2 February. Price may be a limitation. The device is priced at USD 3499.

How do the goggles work? A special operating system has been prepared for the device, which is based on applications familiar to iOS users. The apps have, of course, been adapted to the possibilities offered by the goggles. Apple Vision Pro offers an experience that can be compared to half real and half virtual. The intensity of the mode can be adjusted using a dial, meaning that the image viewed can be more or less virtual.

The device can be controlled by moving the hand, by voice and by using the eyeballs. Special sensors “know” which part of the image the user is looking at and thus confirm the selection of a particular operation. A highlight will be the ability to watch films in 3D on the Apple TV app. In addition, Apple Vision Pro will enable users to watch their own videos in 3D if they were recorded with an iPhone 15 or 15 Pro Max.

The design of the device itself is typical of modern goggles. The sealed eye patch is designed to block out natural light as much as possible. On the other hand, there is a band made of flexible plastic, which is supposed to guarantee stable use of the device. The overall colour scheme is light grey with only a few orange accents. The latter colour is familiar to iPhone users – it can be found on the slider for locking the screen.

Another option will allow users to make video calls. Sensors on the device will detect facial movements and present an avatar of the user. Meanwhile, a digital version of the eyes will be displayed on the front panel.

This all sounds a bit strange and mysterious for the time being, but we are looking forward to reporting on the first tests.

The downside seems to be the limitations. For the time being, the Apple Vision Pro’s battery will only last two hours. What’s more, the battery is external, so we have to remember the cable when using the goggles.
