It looks and tastes good. Oatly enters Poland

Oatly is the first and largest company in the world to produce oat drinks as a substitute for milk. From now on, the products of this Swedish company are available in Poland.Oatly’s plant-based drinks are accompanied by a unique, minimalist visual identity, which fits in with the idea of the ‘Post Milk Generation’ and has a slightly cartoonish form

A study by GFI Europe confirms that plant-based milk equivalents are gaining ground among Polish consumers: The sales value of plant-based beverages increased by 41 per cent between 2020 and 2022, while unit sales of traditional milk fell by 1 per cent

Demand for plant-based products in Poland is growing steadily, so we could not have chosen a better time to enter this market. We want to continue our mission and contribute to replacing as many products made from cow’s milk as possible with their plant-based counterparts in order to reduce the environmental impact of dairy products, explains Helge Weitz, CEO of Oatly DACH and Poland

Our current food system is responsible for approximately one third of global human-induced greenhouse gas emissions. The recent IPCC report confirms that choosing a more plant-based diet has a positive impact on climate change mitigation

Oatly Barista Edition to the fore

In September, Oatly made a remarkable achievement at this year’s Latte Art Championships when the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) changed its rules and replaced cow’s milk with the famous Oatly Barista Edition drink. The high-quality oatmeal drink, created specifically to avoid being weighed down in hot drinks, has quickly become a favourite of the Polish coffee scene and is now available in around 100 cafés in Poland. It is a mild-tasting but exceptionally creamy product that allows for the creation of an impressive froth. The Swedish brand’s mission is to make it easier for people to switch to healthy, plant-based foods. Barista Edition appeals even to supporters of cow’s milk, as they do not have to compromise: because Oatly Barista has a similar nutritional profile to its dairy counterpart, it also provides a similar amount of vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, for example

The debut on the Polish market is a great reason to celebrate and have fun together! To mark the occasion, local cafés in Warsaw and Krakow will be competing against each other in ‘The Big Bake Oat’ event. Using the Oatly Barista Edition, they will present new or improved recipes for sweet, vegan baked goods. Their confectionary struggles will be judged by a jury of culinary journalists, renowned gastro-influencers and top baristas. The winning café will win a year’s supply of Oatly Barista Edition
