Kapitanat Garbary is a project being developed in the very centre of Poznań, at 102 Garbary St. An 8-storey building with flats to a higher development standard, ranging in size from 31 to 97 square metres and featuring spacious terraces, will be constructed next to the historic former Kapitanat building, which is part of the development. The design will be complemented by an elegant lobby, video intercoms and large glazed areas, as well as private lift access for flats on floors 6, 7 and 8.
The building will contain 76 flats and three commercial premises. Future residents will have a 3-level underground car park, bicycle boxes and storerooms at their disposal.
The development is located 200 metres from the River Warta and 800 metres from the Old Market Square. One hundred years ago, there was a river port and accompanying buildings in the area. The former facilities have been almost completely displaced by modern buildings. The only relic is the brick Captain’s Office building from the early 20th century. It is connected to the warehouse hall located along Szyperska Street. In 2020 there was an illegal demolition of the warehouse. Thus, a large part of the site’s history disappeared. Proxin ensures that it will carry out the reconstruction of the historic wall and renovate the preserved Kapitanat building. All projects and planned works have been consulted and agreed with the Municipal Conservator of Monuments.
The flats located on the top three floors of Kapitanat Garbary are designed as a part towering over the other buildings, partly suspended above the historic remains of the former harbour.
The developer of the project is Proxin Garbary Sp. z o.o., which is part of the Proxin Group that runs the Izera Park investment in Świeradów-Zdrój, Słowackiego 7 in the centre of Poznań and the seaside project Nautic Park in Darłowo.
