Kazimierz-Ludwinów footbridge in Kraków. Tender results are in!

The Kazimierz-Ludwinów footbridge in Kraków will be built by the company Primost Południe sp. z o.o. from Będzin. Of the five companies that submitted bids in the tender for the construction of the footbridge over the Vistula River, which will connect the Old Town with Dębniki and Podgórze, the bid submitted by this company was the most favourable. The offer submitted by the company amounted to PLN 113.7 million. Even though it was the best-priced offer, the budget was exceeded by PLN 18.7 million.

Let us recall that the deadline for submitting bids in the tender procedure was in the first half of May this year. Five companies and consortia declared their intention to build a footbridge between Kazimierz and Ludwinów. The bids were analysed in terms of formalities, and the city was also looking for additional funds for the task, as the lowest of the bids was PLN 18.7 million higher than planned

– All matters were successfully concluded and the tender committee was able to decide on the most advantageous offer in this tender. The Primost Południe company proposed the amount of PLN 113.7 million. We have to wait with the signing of the contract for the end of possible appeal proceedings and the signing of agreements with network administrators,” informs Łukasz Szewczyk, director of the Municipal Investment Board in Krakow. The investment itself would take about 26 months from the moment of signing the contract with the contractor

The Kazimierz-Ludwinów footbridge will be about 130 metres long, almost 14 metres wide and almost 16 metres high at its highest point. It will connect the Inflancki Boulevard between Skawińska and Wietora Streets on the Kazimierz side with the Wołyński Boulevard near Ludwinowska Street. The crossing will provide a convenient connection for pedestrians and cyclists, bypassing the existing road bridges. The areas adjacent to the new crossing will become more attractive to residents. The construction of the footbridge will also increase the use of the Vistula River and the boulevards

The author of the architectural concept of the Kazimierz-Ludwinów footbridge is Biuro Projektów Lewicki Łatak. The structure will consist of three interconnected structures, formed by two steel arches of variable stiffness, fixed in massive reinforced concrete supports (abutments) and a central viewing deck. The task has received government funding of PLN 65 million under the Government’s Poland’s Deal Fund: Strategic Investment Programme
