The tenement house at Łąkowa 14 in Gdańsk was built in the 19th century. The narrow, eclectic building will be renovated as part of the Integrated Territorial Investments (ZIT) programme, co-financed from the European Union budget. The expected start date of the investment, which will be carried out by Gdanskie Nieruchomości, is August 2024.
The tenement is in a terrible state. Not only aesthetically, but also technically. Year by year, the risk that the building will simply collapse or that elements falling off it will hurt someone is growing. For this reason, renovation is inevitable. “We are currently at the stage of completing the project documentation,” – reports Barbara Weiss, senior communications officer at the Office of the Directorate of Gdansk Properties.
What does the renovation of the tenement in the Lower Town involve? The tenement at Łąkowa 14 Street is going to undergo extensive renovation works. They will consist, among other things, in:
– sewing up wall cracks
– reinforcing the structure of inter-storey footings and roof trusses, rebuilding chimneys
– new roof covering
– replacement of windows, external and internal doors
– installation of a manhole to the roof
– conversion of three residential units
– restoration of facade colours
– renovation of the façade facing the street with the reconstruction and restoration of architectural details
– renovation of the staircase
– removal of existing and new utility installations
“We are currently at the stage of completing the project documentation” – informs Barbara Weiss, senior communications officer at the Office of the Directorate of Gdańsk Properties.
Subsequently, the municipal entity will call for tenders to carry out a major overhaul of the building in the Lower Town. The total area of the building at 14 Łąkowa Street is approximately 315 square metres.
