The Samsung The Frame ‘Do it your way’ competition has come to an end. The winners were announced on the last day of July, during the OKK! PR WEBINAR. The jury, chaired by Prof. Jan Sikora, selected the winner of the main prize – a photo session made by Szymon Brodziak, and three distinctions out of more than 200 works submitted. The designers proved that they have great potential, and the final entries testify to the design talent of their creators

Targeted at students, architects, designers and all those who love beautiful interiors, the Samsung The Frame competition “Do it your way” has been decided. Participants were asked to submit their conceptual works using The Frame TV in interiors in the form of visualisations on a dedicated platform www.konkurstheframe.pl More than 200 competition entries were submitted

Jury deliberations

It was from among these that an illustrious jury of professionals and experts from the interior design industry, chaired by Professor Jan Sikora, selected the winners. The expert panel, which met on 26 July at the OKK!PR office, consisted of: Prof. Jan Sikora (ASP Gdańsk), interior designer Ada Skwira (WZ Studio), interior designer Małgorzata Liebhert (WZ Studio), arch. Ida Mikołajska (MIKOŁAJSKAstudio), Anna Grużewska (editor-in-chief of Czas na Wnętrze), arch. Jacek Tryc (board member of the Association of Interior Designers), dr. hab. Szymon Hanczar (Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław), Oskar Zięta (Zięta Studio), Michał Piernikowski (Łódź Design Festival), arch. Anna Koszela (Pracownia architektury wnętrz Anna Koszela), Agnieszka Leszczyńska-Mieczkowska (Art in Architecture), Kamil Białas (editor-in-chief of WhiteMAD), Katarzyna Księżopolska (editor-in-chief of Magazif) and, on behalf of the organiser, Dorota Rek (Samsung Polska). After heated discussions, the jury selected 11 top entries from which the winners – the grand prize winner and three special mentions – were chosen through voting. The awarded projects and their authors were announced on 31 July 2021 during an OKK! design webinar

Grand prize

A professional photo shoot by Szymon Brodziak himself and a nationwide ambassador advertising campaign was won by Julia Kilczewska of JK Interiors

Ms Julia Kilczewska’ s competition entry fully met our expectations as a competition committee. On the one hand, it is a stylistically sophisticated work, and on the other hand, on a functional level, it presents a contemporary vision of the living room. The added value is that the concept shows an interior with an artistic character, which fits perfectly with the vision of the competition and the Samsung The Frame product. On the one hand, the TV retains its original character as a device for watching content, but on the other hand, it complements the space by presenting works of art,’ justified the selection of the winning design by the chairman of the jury – Prof. Jan Sikora during the OKK! PR WEBINAR

Distinctions

Equal distinctions were awarded to Katarzyna Kowlaska of Kovvalska Studio, Weronika Fortecka of Fortecka Studio and Łukasz Głogowski of Głogowscy Studio

As the jury’s verdict was justified by arch. Ida Mikołajska of MIKOŁAJSKAstudio with a distinction for Weronika Fortecka – The work presented is an interesting proposal for answering the main slogan of the competition: DO IT YOUR WAY. It is not particularly difficult to incorporate a television set into a space that is based on simple forms – in the so-called ‘modern’ style. However, it is a challenge in more sophisticated interiors. The author of the winning work attempted (with great success) to introduce a Samsung The Frame TV into an interior dominated by curves, expressive textures and natural materials. The living room shown is both elegant and unforced. Such spaces are usually intolerant of any visible electronics in their aesthetics. Here, this has been successfully achieved

In turn, arch. Interiors Małgorzata Liebhert of WZ Studio, highlighting the colourful qualities of the design by Katarzyna Kowalska, said: – “Among the Jury’s voices, looking at this work, it was stated several times that the design is ‘theatrical’. One has the impression that it is a set design, and the chosen frame arouses curiosity as to what is further down the space. The design presented definitely moved the jury and made them think. The juxtaposition of sculpture, stucco and television is intriguing

Also arch. Jacek Tryc of Jacek Tryc Wnętrza in his laudation emphasised the artistic qualities of the last of the awarded projects by Łukasz Głogowski: – The distinction is awarded to an interior design with an atmosphere conducive to the contemplation of works of art and an atmosphere of relaxation. A visitor to this lounge may not realise that the photograph by Szymon Brodziak in the centre of the composition is not a print, but a digital image projected onto a screen. Such a move is extremely valuable in terms of promoting art and higher values

The distinguished works won attractive prizes in the form of image consultancy with communications consultancy provided by one of the most active agencies in the interior design market – OKK! PR and extensive promotional activities in the trade media
