Paradyż Designers – here are the winners of the international edition of the competition!

The third edition of the Paradyż Designers competition, organised by Ceramika Paradyż under the auspices of ArchDaily, has come to an end. This is the first edition of this prestigious competition on an international scale. The jury, chaired by Jürgen Mayer H., selected the best projects submitted from all over the world, presenting an out-of-the-box and bold approach to designing spaces and products using TRI-D large-format sinters.

The main task for participants was to design a space or product in the form of 3D graphics using TRI-D large-format sinters. Participants could submit their designs to three categories: Main, Student Project and Special with a breakdown by the use of TRI-D sinters: Product, Outdoor and Interior.

Nearly a thousand works from all over the world were submitted to the competition, from which the best projects of participants from, among others, Poland, Spain, Italy, Ukraine, Malaysia, South Africa, USA, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey were selected for the second stage of the jury’s deliberations.

The submitted projects were assessed by a jury consisting of: Jürgen Mayer H. (Chairman of the Jury, architect and artist, founder of J. MAYER H. studio), David Basulto (architect, founder and editor-in-chief of ArchDaily), Didier F. Faustino (architect and artist, Director of Mesarchitecture studio), Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys (architect, President of SARP, partner and board member of APA Wojciechowski), Oskar Zięta (architect, process designer, artist and founder of Zieta), Ewa P. Porębska (architect, architecture critic), Szymon Hanczar (architect, academic lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, founder of hanczar studio), Przemo Łukasik (architect, founder of medusagroup studio), Magdalena Federowicz-Boule (architect, President and Creative Director of Tremend), Jo Jurga (architect, space researcher, lecturer), Aldona Chudzicka (Director of Product Development at Ceramika Paradyż), Marek Kamińska (architect, space researcher, lecturer). ceramika Paradyż product development), and Alek Pluta (architect, winner of the 2nd edition of the Paradyż Designers competition, founder of Nomadd Studio). The content curator of Paradyż Designers was Marcin Szczelina, an architecture critic and curator, also known as the creator and editor-in-chief of Architecture Snob magazine.

In the Main category, intended for architects and interior designers, the jury selected three winners.

Thefirst prize in the Main category, worth €10,000 and a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024, was won by Selcuk Kismir of Fabric.a studio from Turkey.

Thesecond prize in the Grand Prize category, worth €5,000 and a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024, went to Mostafa Salem from Egypt.

Thethird prize in the Main category, worth EUR 3,000 and a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024, went to Agata Gała of blank studio from Poland.

Architecture and art students from all over the world competed for three prizes in the Student Project category.

The first prize in the Student Project category, worth EUR 2,000 and a trip to the Salone del Mobile 2024 fair, was won by Piotr Hańderek from Poland, a student at the Cracow University of Technology majoring in Architecture.

The second prize in the Student Project category, worth €1,000 and a trip to the Salone del Mobile 2024 fair, was awarded to Szczepan Zalewski from Poland, a student of the Faculty of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

The third prize in the Student Project category in the form of a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024 was awarded to Ohireme Uanzekin from Nigeria, a student at Heriot-Watt University Dubai majoring in Architecture.

The jury also awarded prizes in the Special Category, in which they paid particular attention to the use of TRI-D sinters as a product and inside and outside buildings (as part of small architecture).

The prize in the Special CategoryProduct worth EUR 1,000 and a trip to the Salone del Mobile 2024 fair was awarded to Małgorzata Nie dzielska from the Niedzielska architektura studio from Poland.

The prize in the Special Category – Outdoor worth EUR 1,000 and a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024 was won by Mostafa Salem from Egypt, awarded second prize in the Main Category.

The prize in the Special Category – Interior, worth EUR 1,000 and a trip to Salone del Mobile 2024, went to Marta Żebrowska-Wojczuk and Weronika Król from mow.design studio in Poland.

The award ceremony will take place in May in Warsaw. The organiser of the competition will announce details of the event soon.
