Stalowa Wola Rozwadów railway station opened after renovation

Renovation work has been completed, thanks to which the Stalowa Wola Rozwadów railway station has regained its former glory. The historical elements of the building have been renovated and supplemented with modern elements to enhance passenger comfort. The building has already been opened and passengers have used it

The railway station building was constructed at the end of the 19th century. Its construction is linked to the opening of the railway line from Dębica to Rozwadów in 1887. A magnificent station building with two risalits at the front and a small annex on the north side was then built. In November 1899. Rozwadów was connected to Przeworsk by a railway line and the station building was then extended to the north-west. The second segment of the station was connected to the older building by a one-storey connector and the whole was kept in a uniform architectural style

The station building now functions as a whole. During the renovation, the historical elements were restored, including the façade with its cornices and bands around the windows and doors. Spatial illuminated inscriptions of Stalowa Wola Rozwadów with the PKP S.A. logo appeared on the elevation. On the south-eastern elevation, the historic inscription ‘Rozwadów’ has also been recreated. The latter can be seen in the photos below

A new space has been created in the middle. It is a passenger service area with a waiting room on the ground floor. Benches, bins and display cases with train timetables have been placed there. Passenger information is supplemented by electronic arrival and departure boards. A ticket office room, toilets and a space for a small retail unit have also been built. Just above the passenger service space, on the first floor, are rooms for the railway companies and the Railway Guard station. The remaining spaces on both the ground and first floors are occupied by rental units

The refurbished station features elements to make the facility easier to navigate for people with disabilities. These include guided paths with attention boxes, signage in Braille, tactile maps of the station or lifts

The building and its surroundings have been fitted with energy-efficient LED lighting with automatic controls. Thermal energy will be produced by low-emission gas boilers. In addition, heating of the station will be supported by ventilation with heat recovery. New window and door frames and air curtains at the entrances to the lobby have been installed to prevent heat loss. Other environmentally friendly solutions include a BMS (Building Management System) to manage the building’s installations and equipment and optimise the use of heat, electricity and water. The station and its surroundings were equipped with modern monitoring, access control, burglary and assault alarm and fire protection systems

The investment also covered the station’s immediate surroundings. New pavements and parking spaces were laid, and green areas were tidied up. A new feature is a bicycle shelter for 16 single-track bicycles. A monument in the form of a railway axle has remained in its previous location, reports PKP S.A.

Unfortunately, the old tree that used to grow at the edge of the platform right next to the building has disappeared. The tall tree provided shade for passengers on hot days. The tree can be seen on an archive photo from 2011, which we publish below

The reconstruction of the Stalowa Wola Rozwadów railway station cost approximately PLN 15.3 million gross. The investor is Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. (Polish State Railways). The contractor for the design documentation and construction work was a consortium of TEXOM sp. z o.o. and AJ Profibud sp. z o.o. sp.k. The investment was carried out as part of the Station Investment Programme 2016-2023 with EU funding from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment
