Christmas mapping in Warsaw. Staszic Palace will light up with a thousand colours!

Christmas mapping in Warsaw will make this year’s festivities even more colourful. We recently wrote about the new light illumination that has appeared on Krakowskie Przedmieście. The article “NOSTALGIC ILLUMINATION WILL LIGHT UP WARSAW. Christmas decorations will take us back to the times of the People’s Republic of Poland” can be read by clicking HERE! This time we describe video mapping, which will transform the surroundings and the façade of the Staszic palace into a multi-coloured spectacle. The innovative 3D video mapping techniques start this week

From 15 December, every weekend from Friday to Sunday, at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Staszic Palace (the façade from the side of the Nicolaus Copernicus monument) and the strolling avenue by the Father Jan Twardowski square will change into an arena of magical shows. Krakowskie Przedmieście will become the setting for a Christmas show combining music, choreography and winter animation

The mapping technique is an integral part of the entire Christmas illuminations project. Lasers will build the illusion of moving architectural details of the Staszic Palace, while traditional Christmas symbols will be used to tell a festive story about the site’s host, Nicolaus Copernicus. The 152-square-metre show will be accompanied by the music of Antoni Vivaldi, so that walkers can immerse themselves even more firmly in the fairytale reality

The first show will take viewers deep into space, exploring themes associated with the famous astronomer, while the second will unveil a spell of memories of festive Warsaw from the 1950s and 1960s. The animations have been created thanks to the cooperation of the City of Warsaw, the City Roads Authority, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Multidekor company

Christmas mapping and street concerts

There are even more attractions taking place as part of the Warsaw Christmas Festival. on 16 and 17 December, Christmas street concerts, crowned by a light show, will be held at the Bristol Hotel, Tokarzewskiego-Karaszewicza Street and Rev. Jan Twardowski Square. The programme includes performances by, among others, Janek Traczyk, Sienna Gospel, Monika Borzym with her band, Audiofeels, as well as the UW Academic Choir, A3 Theatre and Kalejdoskop Theatre.
