The Stable of the Unicorns in Łódź will be greener thanks to the city’s Vox Populi vote, in which every year the citizens of Łódź can express their opinion on the most urgent changes in the city. This year, work will begin on greening the space around the tram station at the corner of Adam Mickiewicz and Piotrkowska Streets. To begin with, the area next to the Hampton by Hilton Łódź City Center Hotel will be changed
The changes in the Vox Populi summer voting were proposed by the citizens of Łódź themselves. The same was true for the “Tree instead of a piece of concrete pavement” campaign – the locations for these plantings have already been selected
The beginning of the changes in the vicinity of the Łódź transfer centre will include the widening of a strip of flowerbeds between the hotel and the cycle path. A number of trees, requested by Lodz residents, will also be added to the same strip. In addition, trellises will be installed next to the cycle path, on which beautiful green climbers will eventually grow
During the next phases, next year, other places in and around the Stables will change. The citizens of Łódź voted for, among other things, the planting of large trees, the sowing of flower meadows, the installation of drinking water springs, but also projects not directly related to greenery – the organisation of mini concerts under the shelter of the transfer centre and the installation of benches
This autumn will also see the completion of a campaign to replace concrete pavements with large plants. Here, too, locations were suggested by residents. Thanks to their suggestions, new planting will appear, among others, at Bandurskiego Street (near the bus stop, between the railway viaduct and the Al. Unii Lubelskiej/Maratońska flyover), Celna 14, Długosza 3 or Kopcińskiego 62 (next to Monopolis
