The photographic talent of Agnieszka Osiecka. Exhibition at MOCAK

Agnieszka Osiecka is not known from her photographic side. An exhibition entitled Agnieszka Osiecka’s Photographic Talent will be opened at the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, during which we will be able to see photographs taken by the artist. Many of them will be shown for the first time

The drama of Agnieszka Osiecka lies in the fact that she was made into a biographical celebrity: lovers, friends, parties and alcohol. Underneath it all, the human being disappeared. And Agnieszka was an extremely interesting, brilliant, intelligent and creative person. In her lyrics she looked at human dramas and dramas with amusement. She was a great observer and always hit the sensitive spots. As a teenager, she kept an amazing Diary. As a teenager, she knew several languages, read and analysed important literature, had a feel for cinema and theatre, wrote apt reviews and commented on political matters. She also had time for love, friendship, dancing and competitive swimming. Her Diary is an ambitious challenge for teenagers

MOCAK will show her photographic work. Osiecka did not take photographs with the intention of making them public. She treated photography as a tool for observing others. In the Diary , she mentions taking photographs. Some of her photographic concepts had an artistic intention in them. For example, a series of photographs from New York in which something red had to appear in the frame

The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication with extensive excerpts from the Diary, recollections of people closer and further afield, as well as letters and photographs of Osiecka
